Regulations - Guests
Residents are welcome to have visitors in Hall. However, to ensure the security and safety of everyone in the building, and to keep noise and access to facilities at a reasonable level, it is absolutely necessary that the following procedures are followed. Residents must be aware that they remain responsible for the acts and omissions of their guests whilst they are in Hall, and for any payments due from their guests. Guests must be accompanied at all times and may not remain in the building during their host’s absence. Any guest found in Hall without their host will be asked to leave. Residents must not lend their key or Hall Card to anyone for any reason.

The Hall reserves the right, through its appointed officers, to refuse admission to any non-resident at any time, or to require them to leave the premises immediately, without giving any reason for doing so.

Day Visitors
An inventory form is issued on arrival for the resident to complete, sign and return to the Bursar’s Office. Any problems recorded on the form will be followed up. The inventory must be returned without delay as any damage not reported on arrival will be considered the responsibility of the resident, who will then be expected to pay for it. Continued failure to return the inventory form may result in a fine.

Residents may have up to three guests between 8:00 am and 12:00 midnight. Visitors may use the internal telephone at reception to call their host to sign them in. Hall staff will not give out extension numbers so residents must inform guests of this in advance. All parts of the signing-in sheet must be properly completed. Unaccompanied guests will not be admitted. Day visitors must sign out on departure, or they will be assumed to have remained in Hall. The resident host may then incur a charge up to the full commercial overnight room rate.

Overnight Guests
During term time, residents may have one overnight guest in their room at a time, for a maximum of 8 nights per month. No guest stay may be for longer than 8 consecutive nights. Lansdowne flat residents may have 2 overnight guests at the same time. Any variation from this guideline must be authorized in advance by the Warden. During the summer vacation, overnight guests are at the discretion of the Bursar’s Office. Overnight guests must be signed in properly at reception and the prevailing fee paid in full in advance. This does not include any meals. Residents who do not follow these procedures may be charged the full commercial rate for an overnight guest.

Guest Rooms
The Hall has a small number of guest rooms available for a maximum of seven nights in one booking. These may be booked in advance at reception. A deposit will be required to secure a booking. This deposit will then be deducted from the final bill.
