Our Warden, Saeed, with the January winner of the Community Award, Ulu.

Greetings!

A very happy new year to you all and welcome back to those who were away!

I do hope that you managed to have a relaxing break over the holidays and you feel refreshed for the start of the new term.

First of all, I would like to introduce Tiffany Elmore our new Resident Advisor (RA) who has just joined my team, replacing Ishan Khurana. Tiffany will take charge of IH Cinema for the rest of the year. More importantly, like other RAs, Tiffany is available to assist residents with concerns in their personal, academic or residential matters. I remind you that an RA can be reached through the reception on weekdays between 6pm-8am and all day on weekends and Bank Holidays.

I have an office hour 14 January between 6-7pm for those who want to discuss any hall-related or welfare issues with me. You do not need an appointment; just come to the reception and say that you want to see me. Meetings will be on the first come, first served basis. Have a look at the following webpage to see how my team and I can support you and how to get in touch with us: https://www.internationalhall.com/team/.

I am pleased to let you know that my team has worked hard to organise a range of events to help you beat the winter blues. These include the Valentine’s Day Party on February 8th, a series of beginners’ dance workshops on Thursdays this term and our annual squash tournament on February 2nd. We have an exciting list of sporting events each week to keep you active. These include yoga, football and cardio-kickboxing. This term, our weekly Cinema screenings will be now held on Wednesdays and Sundays. A series of special events as part of Stay Safe Week will run from 21-27 January. Look out for more details on our website or on Facebook: www.internationalhall.com/events

Assisting my team in these events is the Community Volunteers Committee – a group of residents who were selected last term after a competitive process. I would like to extend my congratulations to them and wish them the best of luck as they take office at the start of this new year.

Finally, the IH Community Award this month goes to Ulug (Ulu) Aslanov, catering supervisor, who has been nominated by IH Residents. Ulu has been described as very courteous as well as energetic in delivery of service to residents.

Best wishes,

Saeed
