May Newsletter from International Hall Warden

Greetings!

Welcome back to many of you who were away during the Easter break! Hope you managed to get the rest necessary to face this crucial part of the academic year. As many of you prepare for exams and submit essays, it is important to get enough rest and manage your stress level. In order to assist you with that, we have organised a series of stress-buster events over the month of May. These include a colouring workshop, cupcake decorating and journal-making session, HIIT workout, morning runs, gardening day at IH, meditation sessions and more. For more details please visit www.internationalhall.com/may. Our regular yoga sessions, which are also great stress busters, carry on as normal to help you balance right between work and play.

Later in the month, we have a major party involving residents of all intercollegiate halls of the Univeristy of London on 18 May, 2-4pm at Cartwright Gardens. Make sure you book your free tickets in advance in order not to miss this great event - www.tickets.uol-halls.org.uk/

I have an office hour 13 May between 6-7pm for those who want to discuss any hall-related or welfare issues with me. You do not need an appointment; just come to the reception and say that you want to see me. Meetings will be on the first come, first served basis. Have a look at the following webpage to see how my team and I can support you and how to get in touch with us: www.internationalhall.com/team.

This month’s Community Award winner is Katarzyna, one of our weekend catering staff.

This month’s Community Award winner is Katarzyna, one of our weekend catering staff.

Our Community Award for the month of May goes to Katarzyna Rogala, one of our weekend catering staff. Kate is described as friendly, kind and always willing to go the extra mile to help our residents. Please do congratulate her the next time you see her in the dining hall. Please note that through this award residents bring recognition to junior staff’s outstanding contribution to the community at IH. You can nominate a member of staff here www.internationalhall.com/communityaward.

Finally, please make sure you respect your neighbours’ right to rest/study in peace in this period by refraining from making excessive noise in your rooms/flats. If you want to spend time with your friends in the hall, please do use the Common Room or the LG Lounge. To report noise, you need to contact the receptionists when you are being disturbed for them to investigate and take action at the time.

As always, my team and I are ready to help you with matters of welfare and community. Please do not hesitate to contact us, if and when you need assistance.

Best wishes,
Saeed
